Match math practice to the course
Ninth-grade FAST practice focuses on ELA Reading. Choose Algebra 1 or Geometry by current course enrollment, independently of ninth-grade reading. These EOCs are separate from FAST progress monitoring. Begin with a few questions and review the answer explanations together. In your account, completed work builds a grade-specific record for the parent dashboard. One session is a starting point, not a judgment about your child.
Reading practice includes questions about meaning, evidence, vocabulary, and how a text is organized. For example, one available EOC course bank includes these skills. Choose the course that matches enrollment:
- Systems of equations
- Quadratic equations
- Exponential growth and decay
- Exponential functions
- Functions
- Polynomial expressions
- Mean and median
- Data distributions

A school sells 40 tickets. Adult tickets cost $8 and student tickets cost $5. Revenue is $260. How many adult tickets were sold?
- 20
- 10
- 30
- 32

Answer: 20
Let a + s = 40 and 8a + 5s = 260. Substitute s = 40 − a: 3a + 200 = 260, so a = 20.
Identify the given quantities and the relationship needed to solve the problem.
This is an original question from our practice bank, not a released state test item.

A math prompt to try together
Confirm that Algebra 1 matches the current course. For an equation, ask your child to explain each operation and substitute the answer back into the original equation to check it.
A reading prompt to try together
Ask how an author develops an idea across the beginning, middle, and end of a text. Collect a specific detail from each part before writing an interpretation.
These are suggested home discussions, not official test items or an assessment of your child. Explore math practice or reading practice for more context.
Where this fits alongside school testing
Grade 9 FAST covers ELA Reading. Algebra 1 and Geometry EOCs are separate, course-based assessments, not FAST Math progress monitoring. Your school provides schedules, results, and accommodation guidance.
Our baseline and practice checks do not replace PM1, PM2, or PM3, and the dashboard does not predict an official score.
After the session
Ask your child to explain one answer. Look at the skill in the parent dashboard, then choose another short set or lesson if they need more practice. Repeated difficulty is a useful reason to speak with their teacher, not a diagnosis from the app.
