Separate reading progress from course exams

Tenth-grade FAST practice focuses on ELA Reading. Choose Algebra 1 or Geometry by current course enrollment, independently of tenth-grade reading. Neither math course is assigned automatically to a school grade. Begin with a few questions and review the answer explanations together. In your account, completed work builds a grade-specific record for the parent dashboard. One session is a starting point, not a judgment about your child.

Reading practice includes questions about meaning, evidence, vocabulary, and how a text is organized. For example, one available EOC course bank includes these skills. Choose the course that matches enrollment:

  • Circle segments
  • Arcs and sectors
  • Scale factors
  • Coordinate geometry
  • Circle angles
  • Volume
  • Congruence
  • Angle relationships

Circle segments · MA.912.GR.6.1

Two chords intersect inside a circle. One chord is split into lengths 3 and 8; the other into lengths 4 and x. What is x?

  1. 6
  2. 7
  3. 12
  4. 24
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: 6

Products of the intersecting chord segments are equal: 3 × 8 = 4x, so x = 6.

Identify the given quantities and the relationship needed to solve the problem.

This is an original question from our practice bank, not a released state test item.

Two useful conversations for Grade 10

A math prompt to try together

Confirm that Geometry matches the current course. Before solving a diagram problem, separate information explicitly given from properties that must be justified; do not assume a sketch is to scale.

A reading prompt to try together

Compare how two authors approach a related topic. Ask about purpose, evidence, and language, not just whether the texts reach the same conclusion.

These are suggested home discussions, not official test items or an assessment of your child. Explore math practice or reading practice for more context.

Where this fits alongside school testing

Grade 10 FAST covers ELA Reading. Algebra 1 and Geometry EOCs are separate, course-based assessments, not FAST Math progress monitoring. Your school provides schedules, results, and accommodation guidance.

Our baseline and practice checks do not replace PM1, PM2, or PM3, and the dashboard does not predict an official score.

After the session

Ask your child to explain one answer. Look at the skill in the parent dashboard, then choose another short set or lesson if they need more practice. Repeated difficulty is a useful reason to speak with their teacher, not a diagnosis from the app.
