Build a middle-school practice routine
Sixth-grade work introduces new ways to describe relationships with ratios and expressions. Keep practice manageable and ask your child to point to the information they used in the problem or passage. Begin with a few questions and review the answer explanations together. In your account, completed work builds a grade-specific record for the parent dashboard. One session is a starting point, not a judgment about your child.
Reading practice includes questions about meaning, evidence, vocabulary, and how a text is organized. Math skills in the current Grade 6 question bank include:
- Ratios and unit rates
- Integers
- Equations
- Triangle area
- Coordinate distances
- Volume
- Compare unit rates
- Decimal operations

A math prompt to try together
Compare a recipe using 2 cups of rice for 3 cups of water with a doubled recipe. Ask what changes, what stays proportional, and how a table helps show the relationship.
A reading prompt to try together
Ask for a one-sentence central idea and two supporting details. Discuss why an interesting example is not always the central idea of the whole passage.
These are suggested home discussions, not official test items or an assessment of your child. Explore math practice or reading practice for more context.
Where this fits alongside school testing
Official Grade 6 FAST assessments cover ELA Reading and Mathematics, with three progress-monitoring administrations each year. Your school provides schedules, results, and accommodation guidance.
Our baseline and practice checks do not replace PM1, PM2, or PM3, and the dashboard does not predict an official score.
After the session
Ask your child to explain one answer. Look at the skill in the parent dashboard, then choose another short set or lesson if they need more practice. Repeated difficulty is a useful reason to speak with their teacher, not a diagnosis from the app.
